Drones Used For Security
Drones are working their way into the alarm security industry. Companies like Sunflower Labs are designing products to enhance home and business security. Imagine a drone capturing images by flying to an area of your property automatically as it detects motion. This Swiss company is developing products to do just that.
How does it work? There are three main components:
- Sunflowers (sensors)
- The Bee (drone)
- The Hive (base station)
Sunflowers identify people, animals, or automobiles as they come and go from your property. Sophisticated motion and vibration sensors make it possible to identify each type of activity. When something moves across your property, the Sunflower system tracks and categorizes it.
When something is happening on your property, the Sunflower system calculates the best flight path for the bee. The bee takes the fastest, safest route and finds the optimal angle to capture the scene. At the same time, it avoids turning the camera beyond your property. The bee has four ultrasonic collision avoidance sensors to help it navigate around obstacles. It can detect these obstacles up to six meters away.
The hive is the base station where the bee rests and charges. The bee sits in the hive protected and charging until motion is detected by the sunflowers and then the bee is deployed to capture footage of the area detected. After the bee has captured footage, it returns to the hive and lands safely even in windy conditions, due to the unique shape of both bee and hive. And when the bee lands, conductive charging starts quickly to recharge the batteries to full capacity.
